Man wearing ‘Gays for Trump’ T-shirt attacked a protestor at North Carolina rally
A man wearing a ‘Gays for Trump’ t-shirt attacked a protestor at Donald Trump’s rally in North Carolina on Friday.
The protestor was put in a headlock by the supporter, who also had a Human Rights Campaign sticker on his ‘Make America Great Again’ cap and was holding a rainbow flag.
The protestor was waving an American flag upside down in front of the Republican nominee when Trump pointed to him and told him to “get out!”
The crowd shouted at the man with two men shoving him and the third, sporting a ‘Gays for Trump’ shirt, grabbing the protestor and putting him in a headlock.
A police officer intervened to break up the fight and escorted the protestor out of the venue, in Greensboro. After the protestor is led away, the crowd begin to chant “U-S-A”
The trump supporter returned to his spot whilst high-fiving other Trump supporters along the way.
However, police also escorted him out of the venue, and on his way out he was asked why he hit the protestor by CNN. The man said “I didn’t hit him”
Trump did not denounce the violence, rather he spoke against the protestors actions.
“It’s really total disrespect for the American flag. There he is, look (pointing at protestor). That’s what’s happening to our country. That is total disrespect for our flag. We’re going to turn it around, folks. We’re going to turn it around.”
Greensboro Police Department spokeswoman Susan Danielsen said to CNN: “There was a minor altercation associated with the Trump rally. Officers escorted both parties involved outside of the venue. Neither one wanted to press charges, so no arrests were made”
