Trump’s wife tells Anderson Cooper sexual assault allegations are ‘lies’
In her first interview since husband Donald Trump was accused of committing sexual assault, Melania Trump told Anderson Cooper that the allegations are “lies.”
“I was surprised, of course,” she said about a 2005 tape in which Trump was recorded making lewd comments about women, most notoriously that you have to “grab ‘em by the p*ssy.”
“I said to my husband that, you know, the language was inappropriate. It’s not acceptable. And I was surprised, because that is not the man that I know,” she told Cooper.
She went on to blame the incident on Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, who Trump was talking to on the tape. She said their conversation was “boy talk, and he was led on – like, egged on – from the host to say dirty and bad stuff.”
“Sometimes I say I have two boys at home – I have my young son and I have my husband. But I know how some men talk, and that’s how I saw it, yes,” she said.
That tape sparked a number of women to come forward with allegations that Trump committed sexual assault against them. Melania was quick to call those accusations “lies.”
“This was all organized from the opposition. And with the details … did they ever check the background of these women? They don’t have any facts.”
It’s notable that the interview was held with Anderson Cooper, who was attacked with homophobic slurs after he hosted the second presidential debate earlier this month.
The CNN anchor was the first openly gay man to moderate a presidential debate, and was rewarded for it with a host of online comments calling him a “faggot” and suggesting he was jealous because he couldn’t “get with” Trump.
