Clean Bandit’s Neil Amin-Smith just quit the band
Clean Bandit violinist Neil Amin-Smith has just made the shock announcement that he’s decided to leave the band.
The out star announced the news on Twitter, though didn’t explain why he’d made the decision, only that it was “the right one.”
Amin-Smith thanked his bandmates and ex-boyfriend Olly Alexander in the message, explaining that “it was a decision that took me a very long time to reach.”
He said: “I wish clean bandit all the luck even as I feel sure they won’t need it, here’s to all our futures.”

The rest of Clean Bandit released their own statement, announcing Amin-Smith’s departure with “great sadness.”
“He told us recently that he has decided to leave. We have had a wonderful ride together and we are extremely excited to see what he does next. We are also very much looking forward to our upcoming shows and to sharing our new music with you.
“Thank you all for your support during this time, and thank you Neil for being part of this amazing journey. We will miss you a lot on this next chapter and we wish you the best of luck for the future.”
Amin-Smith last performed with the band over the summer as they promoted their single ‘Tears’. Their debut album New Eyes peaked at number three in the charts in 2014, while single ‘Rather Be’ went platinum.
The violinist has made headlines for hitting out at fellow stars, tweeting that he was “bored & appalled” when Olly Murs claimed to be 20% gay earlier this year.
He also slammed Sam Smith for “talking crap” during his Oscar acceptance speech for Bond theme ‘Writing on the Wall’.
