WATCH: Laverne Cox slays as Beyoncé on Lip Sync Battle

Laverne Cox set herself a high bar for her Lip Sync Battle appearance by taking on Queen Bey herself, but don’t worry – she totally slayed it.

The Orange Is the New Black star performed to Destiny’s Child’s ‘Lose My Breath’, and channelled Beyoncé throughout.

She was up against her Netflix co-star Samira Wiley, who opted for old school hip-hop hit ‘O.P.P.’, but it was Cox going full-on diva that had our attention.

She said before the performance that she’d be channelling the drag queens she grew up with in the New York scene.

“Coming of age in the New York nightclub scene, I’ve seen a lot of queens lip sync ferociously so I’m drawing from all of them and I’m hoping they’ll be with me,” she said.

This isn’t the first lip sync we’ve loved though – earlier this year Marvel’s Agent Coulson himself, Clark Gregg, became Britney for the night.

Not everyone is a fan though, and RuPaul has slammed Lip Sync Battle, calling it “a poor ripoff” of Drag Race, part of an ongoing trend for straight pop culture to copy the LGBT world.

Cox also stars in the new Rocky Horror Picture Show remake as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, which premiered in the U.S. last week.

She admitted that she had one “apprehension” about the part: having to sing about being a ‘sweet transvestite’, and has repeatedly defended the project against widespread criticism.
