Tom Hanks wants to star in a gay version of Splash with Channing Tatum (VIDEO)
The actor says he would have happily romanced the Magic Mike star.
Tom Hanks says he is annoyed that he wasn’t asked to star in the upcoming remake of Splash opposite Channing Tatum.
The Big star expressed interest in a same-sex version of the 1984 classic film, which saw Daryl Hannah as the blonde-haired, blue-eyed mermaid.
In the upcoming new version, Tatum – who treated fans to a drag spectacular earlier this year – will be playing a merman, with Jillian Bell taking the role previously played by Hanks.
“What’s that about?” Hanks told AP.
“No one asked me! Look, I think if they were really going to be bold, I would come back as Allen Bauer, and I would go off with Channing Tatum.
“That would be a bold movie. And I am suggesting it right now.”
And it seems Hanks may be onto something, after a host of same-sex remakes have been announced in recent months.
Last September, it was revealed that iconic 80s TV show Hart to Hart was making a return to TV screens – with a gay couple in the lead roles.
Earlier this year, a lesbian kiss was also featured in Russell T Davies’ updated version of a Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Fans of adult film have also been treated to a range of XXX parodies of recent movie hits – including Tarzan, Star Trek, Star Wars and Batman vs Superman.
