Cyndi Lauper and Debra Messing are going on a gay bar crawl for Hillary
Pop music legend Cyndi Lauper and Will & Grace star Debra Messing are leading a Philadelphia gaybourhood bar crawl in support of Hillary Clinton.
The pair will be joined by former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and U.S. Senate hopeful Katie McGinty as they tour six of Philly’s gay bars and try to drum up support for Clinton’s campaign.
Organised by the Liberty City LGBT Democratic Club, the ‘get-out-the-vote’ crawl will take place Friday night, just ahead of the state’s deadline for early voting on Saturday.
It was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was apparently moved up a day to avoid a clash with a free Katy Perry concert that Clinton herself would be attending.
If you live in Philadelphia and went to spend the night drinking with Lauper and Messing, the crawl kicks off at 9:30pm at Knock.
It’s free to attend, but anyone coming along is encouraged to RSVP on Facebook beforehand.
One thing you won’t expect to see is any Yuengling beer, as a number of the city’s gay bars have just boycotted the brewery after its owner announced he supports Donald Trump.
Lauper has been vocal about her support of Clinton during the campaign so far. She claimed that Trump “reminds [her] of Hitler,” and earlier this year re-wrote a Kinky Boots song as a pro-trans bathroom protest.
Meanwhile Messing starred in a special Will & Grace reunion that mocked Trump and endorsed Clinton, and has now led to a full-fledged return for the show.
