Neil Patrick Harris isn’t looking his prettiest in the ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ teaser
Neil Patrick Harris isn’t quite looking at his best in the first teaser trailer for Netflix’s upcoming A Series of Unfortunate Events.
The actor is buried under prosthetics and some pretty exciting hair as the villainous Count Olaf in the new adaptation of the books by Lemony Snicket (the pen name of real author Daniel Handler).
Count Olaf becomes the guardian of the orphaned Baudelaire children, but is ultimately plotting only to seize their family fortune.
This first teaser bills him as “thief and a murderer” who “has so far escaped capture,” but in Olaf’s own words: “You haven’t the faintest idea.”
Count Olaf is Harris’s first major role since the demise of his short-lived variety TV series Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, which was cancelled after eight episodes late last year.
More recently he was one of a host of celebrities to appear in an anti-Trump ad in September, and has mostly been busy sharing adorable photos of his twin children.
A Series of Unfortunate Events was adapted once before for a 2004 film starring Jim Carrey, though it failed to spawn a franchise.
Here’s hoping Netflix’s adaptation will be more successful when it arrives next January. Check out the teaser:
