50 Cent headlines a gay nightclub
50 Cent has been spotted in a gay nightclub.
The rapper, who has a history of homophobic remarks, was hosting in Voyeur, a popular club in Philadelphia, over the weekend in order to promote his vodka.
Large numbers of regulars questioned why the club had allowed 50 Cent to perform, due to his history of homophobia.
In the past, the star made headlines by continually speaking out against homosexuality.
Last year, he said TV show Empire had lost millions of viewers because of ‘gay stuff’.
He has also claimed that gay men should kill themselves.
Jay Simmons told G-Philly 50 Cent’s attendance had made the club feel very different.
“It feels like a black club up in here … they done brought 50 Cent out,” he said.
“I haven’t heard this much rap music played here in one night — they really trying to get those black coins.”
Another patron, Davante Rashad, said: “Why 50 Cent — he’s not even gay.
“He’s homophobic as f*ck and he’s just using us to buy his f*cking vodka.”
Michael Weiss, who is the co-owner of the club and Woody’s across the street said he thought it was a good idea to bring 50 Cent in to promote his brand.
He said: “We’re planning to work with the community to prove we’re inclusive — we have a hip-hop music lounge upstairs and plan on hosting an upcoming community forum at Woody’s that will address any problems people have with management.”
