A queer cabaret show is coming to London in aid of Islamophobia awareness month
A queer cabaret show standing up for Muslims under attack is to be shown in London.
LGBT+ Against Islamophobia is to present, Cabaret, a queer cabaret show standing with Muslims who are currently witnessing increased levels of persecution in the community.
The cabaret show, taking place at SOAS University in London for three performances and is scheduled to coincide with Islamophobia Awareness Month.
Describing the event, the group said: “Tackling the issues of racism, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, fascism, inequality, privatisation, Trump and all the rest of your favourite dinner party conversation topics”.
LGBT+ Against Islamophobia has previously marched in various Pride events throughout the UK in their bid to stand against attacks upon LGBT+ Muslims.
A cast member, Usmann Rana, told the Evening Standard: “LGBT+ Against Islamophobia is acting as a bridge between two misunderstood and demonised communities to show common grounds that unite us through unapologetic political art as an instrument.”
Director, Dani Singer, said: “Cabaret has such a power as a tool for communication, and with our wonderful cast of activists from all walks of life, I think we’re making a new point in a way everyone can relate to.”
The performances will be at Russell Square from November 25 to 27.
