Humans of New York, the brainchild of Brandon Stanton began in 2010 with the aim to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers on the street.

What followed was a mass following, a book deal and the chance to tell stories of every day people. Stantonā€™s work has become something of a global phenomenon.

Weā€™ve compiled some of the best LGBT stories below.
