It’s #givingtuesday, when the world is asked to give something back after the mass hysteria of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Here we’ve picked out some organisations who could all use a helping hand (and a little extra cash) in the fight for equality.
The True Colors Fund
The True Colors Fund was co-founded by ’80s popstar Cindi Lauper and is dedicated to fighting LGBT youth homelessness.
The charity works in public policy and engagement to improve the lives of homeless LGBT youth, helping them embrace their true identities.

The Trevor Project
The Trevor Project provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTi young people ages 13-24.
Their Lifeguard Workshop is a free online learning module with teacher resources for middle school and high school classrooms to teach them about LGBT issues.
Just $1 helps keep the suicide hotline running for another minute, which could be enough to save a young person’s life.

The Gay and Lesbian Victory Institute wants to see more LGBT people in public office and fights towards advancing a network of LGBT public leaders.

What started as a Youtube video to reassure LGBT people has now become a worldwide movement, spawning 50,000 copycat videos that promise the world things will get better.
The It Gets Better campaign gives young people hope for their future and encourages allies to come together and support the LGBT community.

Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice
This multiracial, multi-gendered charity believes in community empowerment, self-determination and equal rights for all.

The Jim Collins Foundation
The Jim Collins Foundation helps transgender people fund their gender-affirming surgeries.
The Foundation provides financial support for those who struggle to afford gender surgery, so that they are able to realise their true gender.
