Lance Bass is all of us mourning over the people that 2016 has claimed
Lance Bass has described the loss of celebrities in 2016 as an assault on his childhood.
Taking to Instagram, the singer reflected on the deaths of LGBT icons this year, including Carrie Fisher and George Michael in recent days.
The 37-year-old expressed sadness over Prince, Bowie, Gene Wilder, Muhammad Ali and Zsa Zsa Gabor.
He wrote that the last year had been iconic, but not in a good way.
“An iconic year for all the wrong reasons. My childhood has been majorly assaulted. Again, piss off 2016.”
Carrie Fisher dies yesterday at just 60-years-old after suffering from heart problems on a flight from London to the US last Friday. Passengers attempted to revive her with CPR.
Fisher had been on tour promoting her latest book, The Princess Diarist.
The star was the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and grew up in showbiz.
She left Hollywood in 1973 to study acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
She got a role in Star Wars in 1977, aged just 19 years old. The film propelled her to international fame.
Gay icon George Michael also died this week at 53.
Michael’s publicist said he “passed away peacefully at home” on Christmas Day.
Michael, real name Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, sold more than 100 million albums throughout his lengthy career.
The star’s publicist said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.
“The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”
