Trans model Hari Nef has appeared in a new advert for Love, and it is amazing.
The 24-year-old American model channelled classic Hollywood glamour in the version of Blue Velvet for Love magazine.
Donning dark curls, red lips and a lilac gown Nef draws you into her with her voice and persona.
Nef rose to fame this year when she became the first transgender cover model in Britain as she took pride of place on the front cover of Elle.
The move by Elle to have Nef on the cover signalled a shift in acceptance of the transgender community.
Editor in chief of Elle UK, Lorraine Candy, said: “Hari defines the change that’s happening in the world right now but also she fits into the specific fashion movement.
“She’s intelligent and thoughtful, she understand and loves fashion and beauty. She’s not defined by any one thing.”
Born in Massachusetts, Nef began to experiment with alternative clothing as a teenager which caused friction between herself and her mother. She didn’t begin her transition until she began to study at Columbia University in New York.
She became the first trans model for the agency IMG when she graduated. The agency boasts a range of famous models, including Gigi Hadid and Candice Swanepoel.
When she was signed last year she said: “I’ve been told so many times that my look and my attitude were too edgy to appeal to big fashion clients.”
Nef is one of many transgender models aiming to make a change in the fashion industry to increase acceptance.
