London to host huge free George Michael party at Tropicana club
A huge free party dedicated to George Michael is to be hosted in London.
The Tropicana Beach Club, named after the top five Wham song from 1983, is to host the event in memory of the pop legend.
Some 2000 fans are expected to be at the party celebrating the life and works of the star.
A string of as yet unconfirmed celebrities are also due to join the party goers in remembering George Michael.
The marathon event will run from 5PM through to 2:30am the next morning.
Tropicana Beach Club’s Anthony Knight told the Evening Standard: “Originally we had planned the event for the Thursday however we’ve had thousands of messages and calls from fans begging us to change it to the weekend so they have time to travel from across the UK to attend the event.
“Within 24 hours, over 2000 people had confirmed their attendance.
“The response has been overwhelming.
“I had to come in on the bank holiday just to respond to emails and calls from fans.”
George Michael died aged 53 at his home in Oxfordshire.
A post-mortem has proved inconclusive.
His boyfriend has paid tribute to the star following the tragic death.
Fadi Fawaz told The Daily Telegraph: “I went round there to wake him up and he was just gone, lying peacefully in bed. We don’t know what happened yet.
“Everything had been very complicated recently, but George was looking forward to Christmas, and so was I.
“Now everything is ruined. I want people to remember him the way he was – he was a beautiful person.”
