Gabbana criticised for praising Melania Trump as a ‘#DGWoman’

Stefano Gabbana, of Dolce and Gabbana has come under fire for praising Melania Trump who wore one of his dresses.

Gabbana wrote on Instagram praising the soon-to-be First Lady of the United States.

He called her a ā€œ#DGWomanā€ in the post.

After a number of negative comments were posted by followers, Gabbana asked not to be identified as ā€œgayā€.

Some suggested that he should be more careful about endorsing the Trumps given that he is a gay man.

He wrote: ā€œDont call me gay please!! Im a man!!! Who I love its my private life!!!ā€

The designer duo last year released a new fashion range featuring loving same-sex parents ā€“ after the pair caused controversy last year.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana ā€“ who are gay themselves ā€“ whipped up a storm in March 2015 when they lashed out at same-sex adoption, IVF and surrogacy, hitting out at ā€˜syntheticā€™ children of gay people.

The pair sparked a bitter feud with Sir Elton Johnā€“ whose sons Zachary and Elijah were born via IVF ā€“ leading Gabbana to brand him a ā€œfascistā€.

The pair finally made peace with Sir Elton in August, when he accepted their apology for the remarks.
