Michelle Obama has answered rumours of a presidential run
Michelle Obama has been dodging the question of a presidential run for months.
Pressure has been piling on the FLOTUS to put herself forward for elected office.
Democrat supporters have been urging her to run for years.
Her popularity rocketed during the 2016 election campaign, when she gave emotional stump speeches about the need to confront misogyny.
In a farewell from office interview with Oprah Winfrey, Mrs Obama finally answered the question head on.
Oprah said: “People seriously think you are going to run for office.
“Would you ever run for office? I have to ask you.”
The outgoing First Lady didn’t hesitate in giving her answer.
“No. No”, she said, before Oprah asked: “Any kind of office?”
“That’s one thing I don’t do.
“I don’t make stuff up, I’m not coy.
“I’m pretty direct. If I were interested in it, I would say it.
“I don’t believe in playing games, it’s not something I would do.
“But it also speaks to the fact that people don’t really understand how hard this is.”
