WATCH: Billy Eichner told Ellen about Obama’s farewell party and we’re jealous
Comedian Billy Eichner appeared on The Ellen Show to talk about Obama’s farewell party at the White House and we’re insanely jealous.
The farewell gig, hosted by Barack and Michelle Obama had an all star guest list and Eichner, known for his work as Billy on the street, was one of the many invited.
The base of the show see’s Billy’s character running through the streets of New York and quizzing the public. Eichner has had Michelle Obama on his Billy on the street show in the past.
He set the scene of the party well, and illustrated a perfect combination of all our favourite celebrities.
“You’re in line going through security with David Letterman, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder. It was like two o’clock in the morning and the president has his sleeves rolled up and a couple of buttons down, and he’s like breaking it down on the dance floor… Questlove is blasting Kendrick Lamar in the Whitehouse next to a huge picture of Mary Todd Lincoln.
“We’re all dancing together. There’s Tom Hanks, Sarah Jessica Parker, Steven Colbert it’s unreal.
“I did get to go up to the president and I didn’t know if he knew who I was. Anyway around midnight I saw there was a little opening and I went up to him and I said Mr President I’m Billy Eichner, I host Billy on the Street. He was like “Billy I know who you are” and he gets kind of disgusted!
Eichner found a moment to thank Obama “for everything he’s done for the LGBT community.” Eichner said that Obama said “it was one of the things he was most proud of.”
