You won’t believe what Maxxie from Skins looks like now
It’s ten years since the first episode of E4 drama Skins aired.
The British TV series, which attained a cult status, had a number of LGBT characters across its six seasons, including lesbian couple Naomi and Emily (played by Lily Loveless and Kathryn Prescott).
But it was original cast member Mitch Hewer, who played gay character Maxxie Oliver, who captured the imagination of a generation of gay teens.
10 years on from his on-screen debut in Skins, and nine years on from his role in musical-drama-you-probably-forgot Britannia High, Hewer looks very different to the blond-haired teen you might remember.
The actor, who most recently appeared in 2015 thriller Nightlight, has traded in the peroxide for a man bun these days.
Though he’s not had a huge amount of roles since Skins, he’s still very active on Instagram, where he has thousands of followers.
And sometimes he loses his shirt.
He wrote recently: “10 years ago I had the privilege to work on this incredible show! So thankful!”
Skins has won praise in the past for its early portrayal of LGBT characters.
Lily Loveless explained previously: “People tell me it was very realistic. People come up to me in clubs and say ‘You made me come out’.
“It’s really cool. It’s odd because you live in a bubble when you’re filming and you forget it’s going to go out on TV!”
