Two men arrested in Manchester over homophobic attack

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attacking a man and badly beating for him in what is being labelled a homophobic attack.
The suspects turned themselves in at the police station in Manchester after police launched a social media appeal for information.
The 21-year-old was beaten and had homophobic abuse sworn at him outside of a club in the city on November 5th in the early hours of the morning.
The victim had been inside the club with his partner when he had a run in with three other people in the club.
The people were consequently kicked out, but the victim then left the club with his partner for a cigarette.
The argument sparked once more and the victim had homophobic abuse hurled at him while he was punched multiple times in the face. He was hospitalised because of the injuries.
The two men, 22 and 28, have been arrested on suspicion of section 20 assault and are on bail until March the 8th while police carry out further investigations.
Police Constable Laura Cheetham said: “I’d like to thank the public for their help, which resulted in two people in custody in less than 12 hours since we issued CCTV images.
“Thanks to the power of social media, two people presented themselves at custody last night, having seen the appeal.
“We are continuing with our enquiries and I’m encouraging anyone who has any information about this incident to come forward,” she added.
