Dancing With The Star’s Hughie Maughan and partner beaten in homophobic attack
Dancing With The Stars’ Hughie Maughan and his partner Ryan Ruckledge have been beaten in a homophobic attack in Dublin.
The contestant and his partner were in the Irish capital for an awards event yesterday evening, when the two were reportedly attacked.
Maughan took to Facebook to tell his fans and followers about the attack that left them both with injuries.
He shared a picture of Ruckledge’s head in which he had cuts and bruises surrounding his eye.
“Can’t believe what happened last night,” he wrote on the social media platform. “Me and Ryan went to an awards in Dublin and ended up on a night out and a bunch of lads launched a homophobic attack on us.. Ryan’s foot is broken as well,” Maughan added.
Ruckledge posted the same image onto his Instagram account where he also spoke about the attack.
“Whe. [sic] You go to an awards ceremony with ya boyfriend and then end up getting attacked on a night out, people are horrible today I hope someone punches u.”
The attack sparked response from fans who were outraged over the situation.
“Its 2016 you’d swear we were living in the dark ages! It doesn’t matter who or what you are, you have every right to walk down the street without being attacked! I hope who ever they are, they are caught and made an example of!” wrote one fan on Facebook.
Another wrote: “Shocking, this is the reality for anyone who is different in any way hope you are both ok and recover quickly the perpetrators don’t care about the impact that this can have on someone work hope they are caught”
