Gay porn star claims he was strip-searched at airport for having a ‘Muslim’ name
A French adult film star says he was ‘treated like a terrorist’ and strip searched at Tel Aviv Airport.
Ibrahim Moreno travelled to Israel for a nightclub appearance, but says he was left “humiliated” due to his Muslim sounding name.
“Today at the Tel Aviv airport I have been humiliated, treated like a terrorist,” he later told fans in a Facebook post. “And simply because my name is Ibrahim. Why can’t I have a name of Arab origin?”
The French-Cuban performer said he was interviewed four times while trying to leave the country, as well as having his suitcase emptied and his personal hygiene items thrown away. He was then made to strip for a search.
He added he was questioned three times on the way into the country, taking more than two hours to clear security.
“I never thought travelling to another country would make me feel like shit,” he added.
“I’m gay, I’m not a muslim. I don’t speak any Arabic language, but I carry a cross that allows me to be judged and humiliated.
“I could only cry of the impotence and the rage.”
However, Israel Airports Authority told Ynet checks were “carried out on all travellers leaving the country regardless of their identity, nationality, etc, and in the procedures laid out by the authorised officials.”
They added this was to protect “passengers’ safety and the safety of their flights”.
“Items that are not allowed to be shipped inside a carry-on are confiscated, as is the norm around the world.
“Regarding the claim that he was stripped, when a suspicious finding is received, it must be scanned using technological devices.”
