Hashtag ‘I love gays’ trending in Saudi Arabia
An unlikely hashtag has been trending across Saudi Arabia.
The hashtag Ų§ŲŲØ_Ų§ŁŁ Ų«ŁŁŁŁ_ŁŁŲ³ŲŖ_Ł ŁŁŁ which means āI love gays and Iām not one of themā was the number one trend throughout the weekend.
It first appeared last Thursday, and in a surprise move became very popular.
Saudi Arabia is one of the most conservative and anti-LGBT societies in the world.
There was previously a push for harsher anti-gay laws in the country after claims social media was āmaking too many homosexualsā.
Men thought to have had sex with men face fines, floggings, prison time up to life, torture, chemical castrations, whipping, torture, and/or death penalty.
If theyāre found to have slept with another man twice they face automatic execution.
