Susan Sarandon says her ‘sexual orientation is up for grabs’
Susan Sarandon has said she has always considered herself “open” sexually.
The star opened up in a new interview with PrideSource to respond to a question about whether she is sexually fluid.
The star responded by saying: “My sexual orientation is up for grabs, I guess you could say.”
Going on she suggests she never had a chance to explore her sexual orientation.
“I’m a serial monogamist,” she adds.
“So I haven’t really had a large dating career. I haven’t exactly been in the midst of a lot of offers of any kind. I’m still not! I don’t know what’s going on!”
Despite not revealing whether she has had past relationships with women, she talked about having a relationship with a man she says was gay.
She says: “I did at one point have a very successful and very loving and wonderful affair with a man who then wasn’t with another woman after me, and that worked out fine! I don’t think you had to declare yourself as rigidly as you do now.”
Sarandon went on to identify the man as her co-star in The Hunger, Philip Sayer, who died in 1989.
“He was gay, and we had a great relationship in every way,” she added.
Sayer never publicly addressed rumours about his sexual orientation and died in 1989.
The actor also blasted Donald Trump, claiming he is “legitimising homophobia”.
Debra Messing last year took aim at Susan Sarandon after she suggested a Trump presidency would be preferable to a Clinton one.
