Ex Corrie actress defends engagement to Britain’s most violent prisoner Charles Bronson
A former Coronation Street actress has defended her engagement to one of Britain’s most violent criminals.
Charles Bronson and Paula Williamson are to marry after meeting several times, speaking on the phone every Sunday and sharing letters.
The 64-year-old convict proposed in a bizarre ceremony which included singing Frank Sinatra down the phone.
Bisexual Paula appeared in Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.
On Good Morning Britain, the 36-year-old said she had “genuinely fallen” for “this man’s soul”.
She defended his violent past, saying he had never harmed women or children.
“I really feel for those people, and so does Charlie, he’s been in contact with some of the people and deeply apologised for what’s happened,” she said.
“But he has paid for those crimes, he has done his time.”
Previously, she told The Sun: “We are so in love.
“I’ve had relationships with both men and women in the past but none of them come close to my love for Charlie.
“He’s so eccentric, but so am I. It’s a perfect match.”
Bronson has been so notorious for his attacks on prison staff that he’s been moved prison more than 150 times.
His wife-to-be headed to HMP Wakefield, where Branson is currently held, for him to officially propose marriage.
She told The Mirror: “It’s only the fourth time I will have seen him and I know he likes me to look nice.
“God knows what the other visitors think of me though.”
“I want it all to go to plan because I know that’s what Charlie wants too,” she added.
“He is not the monster people think he is.”
Bronson was originally convicted for armed robbery in 1974, before committing a string of violent offences on the inside which have led to an increased tariff of 43 years.
He now goes by the name Charles Salvador, in a nod to his favourite artist Salvador Dali.
