The cast of Transparent just released a powerful PSA about trans bathrooms
The cast and crew of Amazon’s hit TV series ‘Transparent’ just released a PSA about trans bathrooms which is pretty powerful.
The ACLU released the PSA featuring the cast and crew of the Emmy Award winning series.
It focussed around Gavin Grimm, the subject of a lawsuit brought by the ACLU which just got punted from the US Supreme Court.
In the video, the show’s creator Jill Soloway and others including its stars Jeffrey Tambor, Gaby Hoffmann and Jay Duplass discuss Grimm’s situation.
“The court’s decision in Gavin’s case will impact how the law treats young people all over the country,” trans actor Alexandra Billings says.
“This is not just about restrooms, this is not just about Gavin,” Tambor adds. “It’s about all of us.”
The PSA asks for those supporting Gavin to use the hashtag #StandWithGavin.

Grimm is suing the Gloucester County School Board with help from the American Civil Liberties Union, arguing that the policy violated his right to freedom from discrimination.
However, the case was thrown into disarray after the Trump administration acted to withdraw the transgender protections the case partly relied on.
The case had hinged on the Obama administration’s guidance extending Title IX civil rights protections to outlaw discrimination based on gender identity.
