George Michael’s devastated boyfriend says he’s been told nothing about the funeral
The late George Michael’s boyfriend says he has been cut out of the star’s funeral plans.
Fadi Fawaz claims he knows nothing about the funeral, after the family excluded him from all discussions.
Michael is due to be buried any day now, but he has received no invitation or news of the burial.
The grieving partner told The Sun: “The funeral? I can’t give you an answer, everything is being kept quiet.
“I can’t tell you about the funeral – it should have happened a long time ago. This has gone on and on. I was in the middle of it all.
“But I don’t know anything about the funeral, I really don’t know anything. Believe me. It’s all so strange.”
Tests confirmed that George Michael died from “natural causes” this week.
According to a coroner, his death was caused by dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.
The news comes counter to weeks of tabloid reports that have inferred that the singer’s drug use was to blame.
Fawaz rubbished the claims, saying: “Yes I know people thought that, but it’s because that’s what we do as humans – we hate each other.
“I know it’s quite normal, it’s natural, but it’s still upsetting. I’ve had it myself. We’re human, and in a way I understand it.
“People can die at any age – people die at three years old, five years old, it’s something we can’t control can we.
“This week was a relief for me, because at least I’m not doubted.
“And that’s incredibly important for me because can you imagine how it feels that people would doubt my love for him? It’s horrible.”
The Wham! star’s cousin, Andros Georgiou, has said that Fawaz is banned from attending the funeral because the Michael family “hate him”.
Georgiou said: “Fadi has not been invited to the funeral.
“He is not welcome, the family hate him. Heaven help him if he turned up.
“Fadi was not really his boyfriend. No one has spoken to him and he just seems to be getting on with his life. It makes my stomach turn.”
Fawaz posted an emotional update online after the star’s cause of death was confirmed, saying the past three months as a “cruel” experience.
He posted “F*** YOU” on hearing the news of the coroner’s report.
Adding: “All the nasty comments, press and 999 were very cruel and unnecessary whatsoever, Now I hope to receive some real LOVE x”
He then posted a black and white photo of the couple together.
The 52-year-old singer’s death remained unexplained for months after a post-mortem examination was inconclusive.
The coroner said: “Inquires into the death of George Michael have been concluded and the final post-mortem report received.
“As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further enquiries.
“No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy.”
Since his death, dozens of people have opened up about the singer’s extraordinary generosity and anonymous philanthropy, donating millions to good causes without revealing his identity.
Adele paId a moving tribute to the singer with a performance at the Grammys recently.
