Ginger Spice Geri Horner breaks down over death of her friend George Michael
Geri Horner wept as she described her āloveā for the late George Michael.
Horner opened up about her close friendship with the star, saying that he was there for her when she left the Spice Girls.
She also shared that she named her sonās middle name George in honour of him.
She told This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: āI absolutely loved him.
āWhen I left the Spice Girls, he took me under his wing.
āHe was such a lovely person, and suddenly I had a baby. Itās the circle of life, you just donāt expect it.ā
She continued: āHe was such a good man. When you know a human being, they tell you how it is, they keep your feet on the ground.
āHe told me if my music was rubbish, he loved this programme. He was just such a normal guy. He helped me with my daughter.
āI was gutted.
āItās not until someone goes.. Itās really sad. Itās very sad when someone we all know dies.ā
Tests determined that George Michael died from natural causes earlier this week.
The news came counter to weeks of tabloid reports that have inferred that the singerās drug use was to blame.
The Wham! frontman passed away suddenly on Christmas Day last year at his home in Oxfordshire.
According to a coronerās report, his death was caused by dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.
The coroner said: āInquires into the death of George Michael have been concluded and the final post-mortem report received.
āAs there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further enquiries.
āNo further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy.ā
Since his death, dozens of people have opened up about the singerās extraordinary generosity and anonymous philanthropy, donating millions to good causes without revealing his identity.
