Man fined for ‘disgusting’ homophobic abuse in Glasgow train station
A man has been fined for hurling homophobic abuse at a group of people in a central Glasow train station.
The 66-year-old man was fined for the incident which took place at around 10pm on Saturday 4 March in Glasgow Queen Street station.
The fine handed down was for £500.
The fine was handed down to Thomas Morin by Glasgow Sheriff Court.
He had pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 38 of the Criminal Justice and Licensing act.
The arresting officer, PC Alan Kavanagh from the British Transport Police said: “Targeting anyone with intimidating abuse because of who they are is disgusting and we will never tolerate it.
“Our officers were patrolling the station when we heard his comments so were quickly able to detain him and bring him before the courts.
“I am pleased that Morin was handed this fine and I hope he thinks again before acting in such an offensive way.
