US military naked photo investigation now looking into gay porn websites
An investigation into allegations of soldiers sharing nude images conducted by the US military has now turned to looking into gay porn websites.
The United States Marine Corps is believed to be analysing pages hosted by gay porn websites of āmen wearing military uniforms engaged in sex actsā, according to USA today.
The initial investigation was delving into claims that soldiers were posting naked photographs of female colleagues on secret Facebook groups.
The newly formed branch of the investigation will have to determine whether the images found on gay sites are of active-duty troops.
If they are then it may ābring discredit to the serviceā.
Marine Corps spokesman Captain Ryan E Alvis said: āThe Marine Corps is deeply concerned about allegations regarding the derogatory online comments and sharing of salacious photographs in a closed website.ā
āThis behaviour destroys morale, erodes trust, and degrades the individual.ā
Images of airmen, soldiers and sailors as well as the Marines that have been found on social site Tumblr are also being investigated.
The investigation is being carried out by a joint military joint task force at the Pentagon.
A spokesperson said that hundreds of images of US military personnel had been posted online.
US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said that personnel involved were guilty of āegregious violations of the fundamental valuesā.
āLack of respect for the dignity and humanity of fellow members of the Department of Defense is unacceptable and counter to unit cohesion,ā Mattis said.
