RuPaul just hit out at bachelorette parties who go to gay clubs
RuPaul has hit out at female bachelorette parties who head to gay clubs for their festivities.
The Drag Race hose put his two cents of advice, or warning, in for ladies who visit gay clubs that don’t acknowledge drag queens as anything but “an accessory to straight life”.
Appearing on the radio show Dinner Party Download, RuPaul warned that heterosexual women must “check yourself before you wreck yourself”.
The drag icon went on to say that “People who live in the mainstream and the status quo thing that everyone else is there to serve them. This is an important thing”.
He explained that he always knew he could do drag well and make money from it, but people often tried to exploit that.
“OK, so I’m a brown-skinned gay man, I do drag. Early on, I learned that I could do it well and make money.
“So people automatically ask me about beauty tips and I get kids who write me and say, ‘I wish you could do my makeup for my prom?’ Or ‘I wish you could do my makeup for my wedding?’
“I’m like, ‘Bitch, I’m not a makeup artist. I’m an entertainer. OK?’”
The queen then persecuted people for having a “limited view”.
He said: “They think ‘Oh, you must be here to make me look good. That’s what gay guys are right? You’re an accessory for my straight life’.
“Just because your limited view is that everyone’s there to serve you and that you’re the only person in the world. It doesn’t work that way.”
The celebrated drag queen recently revealed his secret marriage of 23 years, a revelation that sparked homophobic abuse and backlash.
