Instagram could be about to end sexy selfies
Picture sharing site Instagram is introducing new rules that could put an end to topless selfies.
The site is looking to clamp down on revealing content with a set of new rules coming soon.
If your profile contains topless selfies and risque snaps, it could be affected by the change.
Instagram will now deem such photos as “sensitive content”, and could blur some images and videos on your feed.
The site posted to its own official account, saying it’s in an attempt to prevent people seeing the content they can’t ban, but worry about.
Insta wrote: “While these posts don’t violate our guidelines, someone in the community has reported them and our review team has confirmed they are sensitive,” said the statement.
“This change means you are less likely to have surprising or unwanted experiences in the app.”
It’s not known exactly what Instagram means by “sensitive content”, as they haven’t yet offered an explination.
This means people won’t know if their pic will come under the new blur rules until after it’s intoruced.
If users want to use an image that has been blurred, they’ll need to tap it a second time to reveal the full image.
There are no signs they intend to change their more general terms of usage, though.
This gay Navy sailor accidentally came out due to Insta late last year.
Meanwhile a study found that there are a disproportionate number of gay people using Instagram and Twitter.
