RuPaul star Adore Delano’s $3.5 million lawsuit ‘inaccurate in every regard’
RuPaul’s Drag Race star Adore Delano has been slammed over a multi-million dollar lawsuit.
The drag star, real name Danny Noreiga, is suing his management company Producer Entertainment Group (PEG) for $3.5m, saying they tried to “destroy his career”.
The management firm has labeled the accusations as “inaccurate in every regard”, including Mr Noreiga claimed income.
Noreiga appeared on season six of drag race, and has since been represented by PEG, who is accusing of gross mismanagement of revenue.
According to TMZ, Noreiga says in court filings that he has earned $2.5 million in the past three years, but has only taken $300,000 from PEG.
He alleges that PEG and his record label, among others, worked to embezzle much of the revenue from records and “hundreds of concerts”.
Now the firm has hit back, writing in a statement: “Producer Entertainment Group (PEG) remains under contract with Adore Delano (AKA Daniel Noriega).
“We are confident that this alleged suit, as PEG first became aware of it through a news agency and not formal service of process, will be found to be frivolous in nature.
“With respect to the allegations, they are categorically inaccurate in every regard, including Mr. Noriega’s income, expenses and PEG’s commissions.
“We maintain a professional, upstanding and successful relationship with our client roster and are dismayed by Mr. Noriega’s unfounded allegations.
“PEG would never take actions that are adverse to the careers of our artists and continues to work with Adore on existing business and engagements.”
After Party, another record by Delano, previously reached number one on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
Noreiga claims he has proof that PEG had mishandled revenue – taking as much as 70% of his appearance fees.
He also says that his management team threatened to “destroy his career” if he questioned his finances further.
Noreiga asks for $1 million in lost revenue and another $2.5 million to cover punitive damages.
PEG represents a number of other Drag Race queens including Bianca Del Rio.
Del Rio last week hit out at Republican Candace Cameron Bure calling her “homophobic” after she posted a picture wearing a branded shirt.
Fellow Drag Race star Gian Gunn also last week out as trans to help celebrate transgender visibility day.
The show got its biggest ever ratings as it returned for season nine, partly due to Lady Gaga making an appearance.
The show’s host RuPaul recently hit out at female bachelorette parties who head to gay clubs for their festivities.
He also received homophobic abuse after revealing he is married to his partner of more than two decades.
