Jude Law to play young Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts sequel
Jude Law has signed up to play young Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel.

It was teased at the end of the first film that Johnny Depp would play Grindelwald, Dumbledore’s lover, in the sequel which is being filmed this year.
Telling the story of Dumbledore as a young transfiguration professor before he became the headmaster of Hogwarts, and how he helps to stop Grindelwald.
The sequel will be directed by David Yates.
Warner Bros. chief content officer Toby Emmerich told Variety: “Jude has been a member of the Warner Bros. family for years and we’re excited to embark on this new adventure with him.”
JK Rowling last year hinted that the relationship between gay wizard characters Dumbledore and Grindelwald will be central to her upcoming Harry Potter spin-off films.
A release date has been pencilled in for late 2018, so there is a while to go until we get to find out how heavily their relationship will feature.
The role of Dumbledore has been played by Richard Harris, then after his death Michael Gambon.
Sir Ian McKellen rejected the role after Harris’ death, after he was criticised by the actor for his abilities.
Rowling has penned the script for upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, starring Eddie Redmayne, which is set in the same universe as the Harry Potter films but takes place in 1920s New York
