Protests against Trump have just reached space
Protests against Trump have not just been limited to the US, and now they are not just limited to earth.
The Autonomous Space Agency Network (NASA backwards), this week sent their protest against the US President into space.
Floating a weather balloon up to 90,000 feet, ASAN attached a huge printed tweet expressing dissatisfaction at Trump.
It quoted Edgar Mitchell, a late NASA astronaut, who once said that once you’ve been to space, you develop a “global consciousness … an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it.”
Mithcell added: “From out there on the Moon, international politics look so petty,” Mitchell continued. “You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch.’”
So naturally, the ‘tweet’ simply read: “Look at that, you son of a bitch.”
ASAN, which says it aims to encourage “DIY space exploration”, said the tweet was the “first protest in space”.
Disclaimer: The balloon didn’t technically reach outer space, but it still looks pretty impressive.

Trump has proven unpopular with many in his first 100 days of office, particularly for its apparent anti-science agenda.
The balloon was flown in solidarity with the March for Science.
“In solidarity with the upcoming March for Science (4/22), the Autonomous Space Agency Network is proud to have executed the first protest in near space (~90,000 ft),” the group wrote on YouTube.
Since taking office less than two months ago, President Trump and his team have acted to dismantle civil rights protections for transgender kids in education that had been extended under the Obama government. Under Trump, the Department of Justice has also quietly shelved an Obama-era legal challenge against North Carolina’s state-level anti-LGBT law.
Earlier this year, the Supreme Court announced that it will not go ahead with a planned hearing on transgender rights, in light of the Trump administration’s removal of key protections.
