Kim Kardashian has lashed out her former stepmother Caitlyn Jenner.

Reality star Kim K was appearing on the Ellen Show when she was asked about Caitlyn Jenner, who was married to her mother Kris Jenner before coming out as trans.

In the interview Kim reacted to Caitlyn Jennerā€™s upcoming book, a ā€œtell-allā€ that discusses her transition to female.

In her frequent media appearances to promote the book, Jenner has been harshly critical about her ex-wifeā€™s struggles to accept her transition. On Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kris Jenner trashed the book as ā€œmade upā€.

Speaking to Ellen, Kim Kardashian said: ā€œMy heart breaks for my mom, you know? I feel like sheā€™s been through so much and [Caitlyn]ā€™s promoting this book and sheā€™s saying all these things.

ā€œI donā€™t think itā€™s necessary and I just feel like itā€™s unfair, things arenā€™t truthful.ā€

She continued: ā€œSheā€™s not being honest] about some thing about my mom, and other things. I feel like itā€™s taken her a really long time to be honest with herself, but itā€™s just so hurtful. I wish her all the success in the world, but not at our expense.ā€

Asked if the family still have a relationship with Jenner, she said: ā€œFor Kendall and Kylie, thatā€™s their dad.

ā€œMy momā€™s been so respectful for so long, always wanting Caitlyn around and always wanting a great relationship with Caitlyn, butā€¦ I havenā€™t talked to her in a couple weeks.

ā€œIā€™ll always love her. That was my stepdad for so many years. She taught me about character growing up, and I just feel like I donā€™t respect the character sheā€™s showing now.ā€

Kim continued:

ā€œIā€™ll always have a major love for her for who she was in my life.

ā€œI want to be respectful, but I feel thereā€™s no need for a book bashing other people. I think itā€™s not tasteful.ā€

The choice of the Ellen Show for the interview is interesting, given Caitlyn Jenner claimed in her book that she was ā€œalienatedā€ by Ellen DeGeneres over her stance on same-sex marriage.

Jenner wrote: ā€œI believed, as anyone would, that that was exactly what she wanted to talk about ā€“ my progression in terms of changing attitude over the years.

ā€œThis discussion further alienated me from members of the LGBTQ community.

ā€œEllenā€™s appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where in my mind she even more emphatically took what I said out of context, made it go viral.ā€

Jenner told Ellen in 2015: ā€œI have to admit ā€” I remember 10 years ago, 15 years ago, whenever the whole gay marriage issue came up ā€” at first I was not for it,ā€ she said to DeGeneres.

ā€œIā€™m a traditionalist. Iā€™m older than most people in your audience.

ā€œI, kind of, like tradition and itā€™s always been a man and a woman.

ā€œI was thinking, ā€˜I donā€™t quite get itā€™. But as time has gone on ā€” I think like a lot of people on this issue ā€” Iā€™ve really changed my thinking.

ā€œI donā€™t ever want to stand in front of anyoneā€™s happiness.ā€

Jenner transitioned two years ago, revealing her new look on the cover of Vanity Fair.

She became a huge hit and was celebrated for the bravery of going through the experience so publicly.

However her TV series, I Am Cait, flopped in its second season, following a string of positive comments about the Republicans and Donald Trump that alienated some of her core fans.

Jenner had originally offered herself as a trans ambassador for the Trump administration.

Her adoration for Trump did not last, however.

When the president repealed an Obama era protection for trans people using the bathroom, Jenner hit out at Trump, writing: ā€œFrom one Republican to another, this is a disaster.

ā€œYou made a promise to protect the LGBTQ community. Call me.ā€
