Watch: Republican Congressman cries as he begs God to ‘forgive’ America for gay marriage
An emotional Republican Congressman sobbed his way through a speech begging God to forgive the āsinsā of equal marriage.
Randy Weber is a member of the United States House of Representatives, and has represented Texasā 14th congressional district since 2013.
He made an appearance last night at an ultra-conservative religious event, titled āWashington ā A Man of Prayerā. A video appears below.
At the event, Weber led a prayer begging for Godās āforgivenessā for Americaās sins, openly weeping as he addressed same-sex marriage.
He said: āFather, we have trampled on your holy institution of holy matrimony and tried to rewrite what it is and weāve called it an alternate lifestyle.ā
Welling up and beginning to cry, he said: āFather, oh Father, please forgive us!ā
The lawmaker continued to sob as he begged for Godās forgiveness for abortion, saying āFather, weāre killing our descendants and weāre calling it a choice. Oh Lord, forgive us.ā
He continued: āLord, forgive our sins. Help us to get back on your path, to a true understanding of āblessed is the nation whose god is Lordā.
āLet that please be us. Donāt remove your hand of protection from us, Father, please.
āForgive us our manifold sins, and bring us back to your mercy, father, I beg of you. I plead with you.ā
Weber has a long anti-LGBT history.
He previously backed a bill called the āState Marriage Defense Actā, seeking to limit federal recognition of gay weddings after the Defense of Marriage Act was struck down.
Explaining the bill, he said: āMaybe [there will] be a groundswell where people can get behind this and say, āLook, weāre tired of activist judges just systematically destroying the foundation of the family by throwing out a lot of these laws that people have voted for.ā
āYouāve got to be watching the absolute insanity out of some of these judges across the countryā¦ they have just thrown the entire country, in my opinion, into turmoil with a lot of these judges saying, āWell, itās a right, the people of those states cannot choose what they want their state to look likeā.ā
