Orange Is the New Black season 5 episodes leaked online by hacker
New episodes from Orange is The New Black season five have been leaked online after a hacker followed through on a threat to Netflix.
The first 10 episodes of the upcoming series were allegedly leaked on the file sharing website, Pirate Bay, in the early hours of this morning.
It is believed that the hacker, who went under the screen name “thedarkoverlord”, allegedly demanded that the company hand over a sum of money in exchange for the shows not being leaked.
However, some believe that the heist was actually a way for the hacker, or collective group of hackers, to brag about the cyber crime.
“It didn’t have to be this way, Netflix. You’re going to lose a lot more money in all of this than what our modest offer was,” the hacker wrote.
“We’re quite ashamed to breathe the same air as you. We figured a pragmatic business such as yourselves would see and understand the benefits of cooperating with a reasonable and merciful entity like ourselves.”
Before finishing the message, they sent a further threat to other networks including ABC, Fox, National Geographic and IFC whose TV shows were also reportedly stolen.
“And to the others: there’s still time to save yourselves. Our offers are still on the table – for now,” they added.
It is believed that the content was stolen in an attack on the post-production studio Larson Studios in 2016 – which is why the last three episodes of the series were not published.
OITNB is Netflix’s “most-watched” original series and was renewed for seasons five, six and seven last year.
Some have suggested that Netflix will bring the season five premiere date forward because of the leak.

Orange Is The New Black is a brilliant, unique show which has been watched more than any other original series created by Netflix since it first aired in 2013.
The series centres on Piper Chapman, an upper-class New Yorker who is sent to a women’s prison – Litchfield – after being convicted for crimes she committed 10 years earlier.
It is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir, Orange Is The New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison.
It’s a drama; it’s a comedy; it features trans icon Laverne Cox and involves more lesbian love scenes than you can count.
Suffice to say, the show is an emotional, psychological rollercoaster which you will not regret watching.
OITNB has also attracted critical praise, receiving 16 Emmy nominations and winning four of the awards.

Orange is the New Black Season 5 promises to be an explosive one, with the show left on on a cliffhanger.
According to Danielle Brooks, who plays Taystee, season five will only span three days.
But the Netflix release will be “very detailed” and ” very intense,” she said, with all episodes taking place in real time.
