Tom Daley in hospital just hours before reported wedding to Dustin Lance Black
Tom Daley was in hospital just hours before his rumoured wedding to Dustin Lance Black.
The Olympic bronze medal-winning diver posted a picture on Instagram yesterday which showed the 22-year-old in a hospital bed.
The Sun has reported that Daley is set to wed Black, the Oscar-winning screenwriter and director who last month signed a modelling contract, this weekend.
But despite the unfortunate timing, Daley was in good spirits.
On the Instagram post, he wrote: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger! ??????,” adding the revealing hashtag “#AthleteLife”.
And he assured fans that he wasn’t too badly injured, saying: “Back on the board soon ??”
The race to get Daley ready for his apparent upcoming nuptials is still very much on, though.
The couple got engaged in October 2015, after meeting two years previously.
Some fans have theorised that Daley’s hospital stay was down to him slipping during a pre-competition dive last week.
He posted a picture of the slip to Instagram, with the caption: “This was not meant to happen!”
But it seems that mistake was not the cause of his injury, as he recovered from it to win a medal.
Talking about his fiancé to the Evening Standard earlier this year, he said: “We just complement each other, and I think we really understand each other.
“He’s very good at what he does and he understands the hard work I have to put into what I do, so it works.”
The 22-year-old recently expressed regret after he was exposed as having ‘online sex’ with a man he’d connected with via Instagram.
Daley allegedly told The Sun that partner Dustin Lance Black knew about his online sex sessions before the videos surfaced, and has pledged that it will never happen again.
In an interview with Attitude magazine earlier this year, the Olympian revealed that people don’t even recognise him fully clothed.
“Outside of the pool I don’t walk around the house in my trunks!”, he said.
“The other day, an old lady came up to me and said: ‘Gosh, I don’t recognise you with your clothes on!’ and I guess people see me on TV and diving with no clothes on.
“It’s nice to go to a photoshoot and actually wear something.”
