Orange is the New Black season five trailer reveals a revolution at Litchfield
Orange is the New Black has released a fresh season five trailer – and it looks like we’re set for a revolution at Litchfield.
The last season of the hit Netflix show about a women’s prison, which features numerous LGBT characters, ended with the accidental death of Poussey Washington – which sparked a riot.

The previous trailer recapped the last, incredibly tense minute of that season, which saw inmates gathered around pregnant prisoner Dayanara and prison officer Humphrey, with many urging her to shoot.
Then, as the end screen blocked events from view, a gunshot rang out.
This trailer skirts around who pulled the trigger and whether anyone was hit, focusing instead on a radical shift at Litchfield.
It seems that inmates – who have witnessed multiple deaths at Litchfield – are finally banding together against the prison’s authorities to secure better treatment.
Maria Ruiz tells the rioters: “If we wanna turn this place right, we have to speak as one united group. Who’s in?”
Emphasising the power of fighting as one, Gloria says: “The only way out is for us to come together.”
And Black Cindy, who like most of the other women has shown little appetite for cross-group teamwork, is seen stating: “There’s more strength in a single, unified message.”
Joining in the theme is Taystee, Poussey’s best friend, who tells prison chief Joe Caputo: “We’re all angry. You done our girl wrong, Mr Caputo. And we want justice.”
It seems that Taystee is one of the main leaders of the women’s campaign to secure their rights.
She tells her fellow inmates: “We get beat for no reason.
“We stuffed four in a bunk like we factory chickens – we’re denied basic humanity.”
And in a different scene, she says: “This is my home, and I’m gonna fight for it.”
Sophia Burset, played by trans activist Laverne Cox, seems to gives the characters another reason to fight for their basic rights.
She is seen locked up, seemingly in isolation – just as she was for most of season four.
The original protagonist, Piper Chapman, is also seen asking Taystee: “How can I help?”
“People ain’t gon’ like you,” comes the honest response.
“Story of my life” replies Piper.
On a sinister note, the trailer also implies that the white power group, which includes non-binary actor Asia Kate Dillon’s character Brandy, will try to claim supremacy in the prison.
Season five will also feature the return of OITNB favourite Ruby Rose, who is expected to reprise her role as Stella Carlin in the second half of the season.
OITNB will return to Netflix on June 9.
