Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black receive ‘homophobic’ wedding Tweet from the Daily Express
Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black tied the knot in a stunning wedding ceremony last weekend – but not everyone was happy.
Right-wing British tabloid Daily Express has been roundly condemned online for a Tweet about the couple’s happy day.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in England and Wales since 2013, with the first marriages taking place in 2014.
That didn’t seem to bother the newspaper, however, who appeared not to accept same-sex couples as having the right to marry.

The newspaper posted: “Tom Daley, 22, and Dustin Lance Black, 42, ‘MARRY’ in romantic Romeo and Juliet ceremony”.
Despite their choice of headline for Daley and Lance Black, the newspaper had not applied the same air quotes to heterosexual couples marrying.
When Stevie Wonder revealed he was getting married for the third time, for example, they felt no need for the inverted commas.
It’s possible that ‘MARRY’ was placed in air quotes due to the nuptials not being officially confirmed when the article was first written.
However, given the level of detail in the piece it was at best an inelegant way of framing any such uncertainty.
After the newspaper posted the headline to Twitter, users were quick to point out the offence of the headline.
Dear @Daily_Express , if you call Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black’s wedding a ‘wedding’, can I call you a ‘newspaper’? Just checking…..

The couple tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony after a hospital scare for Daley last week.
The couple reportedly had their wedding in Bovey Castle, Devon, near the UK’s south coast.
Revealing the first snaps of their special day, Daley wrote: “05.06.17 the day I married the love of my life ❤️ shared with 120 of our closest family and friends from Texarkana to Plymouth!”

They shared a string of pictures from their special day after confirming the wedding.
Daley recited lines from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet during the ceremony, according to reports, before vows were exchanged and they were officially married.
A string quartet played throughout the service and reception which followed after.
The intimate group of just family and friends enjoyed a three course mean, a “massive cake” and slept in the castle after the evening wound down.
Lance-Black and Daley announced their engagement in 2015 with a traditional announcement in The Times, two years after Daley came out in 2013.
The 22-year-old Olympian and 42-year-old Oscar-winning screen writer have been together for four years.
Daley recently faced controversy after he was accused of having an affair by a number of media outlets when a video of him stripping was leaked online.
The athlete admitted that he had sexted and sent explicit videos when he and Lance-Black were on a seven-month break.
They have since released a video together insisting that the two were “good” and that the relationship was as strong as ever.
