George Michael’s funeral: Kenny Goss reveals moving truth about the Wham! star’s burial
George Michael’s ex-boyfriend Kenny Goss has opened up about the singer’s funeral.
Goss dated the Wham! singer for 15 years, until 2009, and was among the close family and friends to attend the star’s burial in north London.
George Michael died at his home in Goring, Oxfordshire, age 53, on Christmas Day last year.
According to a coroner’s report, the star died of natural causes, not due to drug abuse as had been rumoured.
Now 58-year-old Texas art dealer Goss has opened up about the Highgate Cemetery burial last month.
He told The Sun: “I didn’t cry. I just thought, ‘That’s him in there.’”
“I pictured him being younger — aged 33 in an amazing suit with his Cartier watch on.
“I touched the coffin. It was reassuring to know he was resting in peace.”

None of Michael’s hits were played at the funeral, sticking to a more traditional burial service.
Stars such as Sir Elton John and Kate Moss, who had been friends, also stayed away from the event to help make it as low key as possible.
Michael’s most recent boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, turned up late to the funeral.
“I have no idea why Fadi would choose to be late for the funeral,” Goss confessed.
“The rest of us were there 15 to 20 minutes early at least. The people on his row greeted him but I didn’t see him talking to others.”
Fawaz was reportedly banned by from the wake, after the funeral service, by the star’s family.
According to MailOnline, he was walking in nearby Camden when he was told of the service.
It’s alleged reporter informed him of the funeral, prompting him to turn up swiftly.
The boyfriend was then the last to arrive at the service after rushing to make the burial.
However he left before the wake after the family reportedly refused to let him attend, forcing him to be taken away in a blacked out car before other guests.
The singer’s March funeral was attended only by close friends and family, with approximately 60 people thought to have been at the burial.
16 blacked out cars were seen arriving for the service, which was said to be intimate and organised by the singer’s sister, Melanie Panayiotou.
Geri Horner, who gave her newborn son the middle name George, is thought to have delivered the eulogy.
Black drapes were lifted as each car arrived at the cemetery, allowing the approved vehicles to go through without showing the scene to those outside.
Cars going into the funeral had numbers displayed in their windows, to indicate they were for the star’s funeral.
The resting spot of the late legend, in north London, will not be open to fans.
The grave is positioned in a private area of the London resting place and will not be accessible to the general public.
A tall barrier was placed around the gravestone after the singer’s funeral service on March 29, blocking the space from view.
His burial plot is next to his beloved mum, Lesley, who died 20 years ago in 1997.
The star had always intended to be buried next to her, buying the burial plot ready for when the occasion came around.
