The Flash actor Keiynan Lonsdale just came out as bisexual
The Flash actor Keiynan Lonsdale has come out as bisexual in a touching Instagram post.
The 25-year-old, who rose to fame after staring in The Flash TV show as āKid Flashā Wally West, spoke about his sexuality candidly.
He started: āI like to change my hair, I like to take risks with how I dress, I like girls, & I like guys (yes).ā
The Australian went on to write that had struggled for years with accepting himself, but has since learnt to change that.
āI like growing, I like learning, I like who I am and I really like who Iām becoming. Spent way too many years hating myself, thinking I was less valuable because I was different, which is untrue.
āA couple years ago, I was able to accept myself, & it saved my life, but now Iāve gotten to a new road block & I feel kind of lost. I gotta take the next step & actually embrace who I am, which is pretty exciting,ā Lonsdale wrote.
He added that he would no longer āapologiseā for who he fell in love with, and would not let shame be a factor in his life anymore.
āNot faking sh*t anymore, not apologizing for falling in love with people no matter their gender.
āIāve become bored of being insecure, ashamed, scared. No one should feel like that about themselves, especially when there is so much good life to live,ā he said.
Lonsdale, who also appeared in The Divergent series, finished the open post by insisting that he hoped he could be an inspiration for young LGBT people to learn to embrace their own identities.
āYa know more & more I see so many young people being their best / truest selves, itās fāing inspiringā¦ so what have I been waiting for?! Who knows.
āEveryone in their own time. I hope we can all learn to embrace who we are & not judge people who arenāt exactly the same as us. The truth is we are all family, weāre all one. Just love. Keiy,ā he concluded.
The moving post has been met with praise, with Lonsdaleās co-stars Candice Patton and Danielle Panabaker hailing Lonsdale as a āheroā.
Prior to coming out, Lonsdale was an outspoken supporter of LGBT rights.
He took to social media to voice his support for the 2015 Supreme Court ruling that legalised same-sex marriage across the final 14 states in America.
He has also spoken out against the controversial anti-LGBT HB2 law in North Carolina.
