It looks like a reunion of The L Word is coming soon

Hints at an L Word reunion have whipped fans into a frenzy.

The groundbreaking show, which followed the lives and loves of a group of Los Angeles lesbians, ran for six seasons from 2004 and 2009.

In its wake, it left a dedicated fanbase and a multitude of broken taboos.

The fervour was sparked by the showā€™s executive producer Ilene Chaiken tweeting, apparently out of the blue: ā€œSo excited! Can’t wait…!ā€

Plus, she included the Twitter handles of pretty much every one of the cast members.

The prospect of seeing some of the best, most fleshed-out characters – let alone lesbian characters – interact again was almost too much.

And, of course, it could finally solve the mystery around Jenny’s murder.

As if that wasnā€™t enough, Chaiken – who is now an executive producer for hit Fox show Empire – was then joined in her Twitter conversation by some of the cast.

Kate Moennig, who played the inimitable, irreplaceable Shane McCutcheon, replied to the post.

ā€œCan’t wait to be with my gals again!!ā€ she said, driving the fandom into an ever-growing spiral of excitement.

And Sarah Shahi, who played Carmen de la Pica Morales in seasons two and three, wrote: ā€œMe too!! It’s been WAYYYYYY TOO LONGā€

Suffice to say, fans are…excited.

But also just a *little* bit apprehensive that this might not be the glorious reunion weā€™re all hoping for.

Moennig poured a small amount of cold water on the fandom fire that threatened to engulf everyone by tweeting later on: ā€œAs far as I know, it’s not a reboot.ā€

However, she added: ā€œFor reunion inquiries, direct that to @showtime ?ā€

No reboot, but a reunion? Fans may just be able to get on board with that.

Either way, weā€™ll be here. Waiting.
