Milo Yiannopoulos calls Ariana Grande ‘pro-Islam and anti-America’ after suicide bomber kills 22
Far-right blogger Milo Yiannopoulos has come under fire after he called Ariana Grande āpro-Islam and anti-Americaā after a suicide bomber killed 22 at her concert in Manchester.
The popstar suspended her Dangerous Woman World Tour after a terrorist suicide bombing at the end of her show at the Manchester Arena on Monday night.
22 people died in the bombing and another 59 were seriously injured.
Writing on Facebook, Yiannopoulos said Grande was ābeing too stupid to wise up and warn her European fans about the real threats to their freedom and their lives.ā
āShe will remain ferociously pro-immigrant, pro-Islam and anti-America. Makes you wonder whether they bombed to attack her or in solidarity,ā he continued.
He later added: āLittle girls are being killed thanks to a murderous ideology. Why wonāt Ariana Grande condemn it? Itās a supreme act of cowardice. She has a unique chance: this is the first opportunity to strike a blow against Islamic terror *in culture*. She could be a cultural icon for generations. She owes it to her dead fans. So why wonāt she act?ā
And: āWhen will Ariana Grande stop feeling sorry for herself and condemn Islamic terror?ā
The far-right figure and internet troll is already deeply controversial, previously claiming he would ācureā himself of being gay if he could, describing trans people as āmentally ill gay men dressing up for attentionā, and using a university lecture to single out and bully a transgender student on-stage.
In the original clip Yiannopoulos is heard bragging about his sexual activity under the age of consent, defending a priest who he had sex with.
When others present protest that his comments āsound like child molestationā, Yiannopoulos insisted: āIām grateful for Father Michael, I wouldnāt give such good head if it wasnāt for him.ā
Former British National Party leader Nick Griffin branded Ariana Grande a āfaghagā, days after a terror attack at her show in Manchester.
Grande has a large LGBT fanbase. Among those confirmed to have died is 29-year-old public relations professional Martyn Hett, whose death has prompted an outpouring of grief on social media and among his friends in the gay community.
Tributes to the singer and her fans have poured in from around the world, with messages from fellow popstars like Taylor Swift, local musicians including Liam Gallagher and The Charlatans, and world leaders.
Arianaās manager Scooter Braun said: āTonight our hearts are broken. Words cannot express our sorrow for the victims and families harmed in this senseless attack.
āWe mourn the lives of children and loved ones taken by this cowardly act. We are thankful for the selfless service tonight of Manchesterās first responders who rushed towards danger to help save lives.
āWe ask all of you to hold the victims, their families, and all those affected in your hearts and prayers.ā
