Neil Patrick Harris pays adorable tribute to husband David Burtka
Actor Neil Patrick Harris payed an emotional tribute to his husband David for his 42nd birthday yesterday.
The award-winning musical and television star told his husband: “My love and appreciation for you is immeasurable.”
Harris, who was the first openly gay man to host the Academy Awards in 2015, played the title character on Doogie Howser in the early 1990s, and more recently starred in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother and the thriller Gone Girl.
He married his partner David Burtka, an actor and a professional chef, in Italy in 2014, after more than a decade together.
Monday’s Instagram post showed David blowing out candles on a birthday cake at their New York City home, surrounded by the couple’s twins, Gideon and Harper.
“Happy Birthday David,” Harris wrote. “You’re the most glorious husband/father/person I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.
“My love and appreciation for you is immeasurable.
“May this be your best year yet.”
Harris signed off the post with an “xoxo” to his husband of three years.
Harris recently starred as evil villain Count Olaf in the Netflix TV series A Series of Unfortunate Events.
The 43-year-old actor looked different from his usually-pretty self in the series, buried under prosthetics and a large stage wig.
Harris and Burtka often share photos of their idyllic family life on Instagram.
Earlier this week Harris took his six-year-old son Gideon to a New York baseball game.
They were both pictured wearing Yankees caps.

Last year they prompted online delight by posting photos of their twins on holiday in Canada.
