Scissor Sisters are back together, check out their new single here
The Scissor Sisters have broken their hiatus to release a new single to benefit survivors of the Pulse club massacre.
The Filthy/Gorgeous band have been on an “indefinite hiatus” since 2012, with lead singers Jake Shears and Ana Matronic both moving on to other projects.
However, it looks like the wait is finally over for fans, as the band dropped a surprise new single today.
New track SWERLK is a collaboration with producer MDNR, and all proceeds from the song go to a charity that benefits survivors of the Orlando Pulse gay club shooting, the Contigo Fund.
The track dropped just days before the first anniversary of the shooting, which rocked the world on June 12 last year.
Of the decision to give away the proceeds, Jake Shears said: “We are glad to support such a great cause.
“Through music hopefully we can help to bring people together and provide support for the LGBT Latinx community in Orlando.”
Scissor Sisters guitarist Babydaddy added: “The community that brought Scissor Sisters and MNDR to life experienced an incredible loss that we can’t allow to be forgotten.
“SWERLK is our way to honour the people and culture that allowed us to escape and be ourselves.
MNDR said: “SWERLK is about celebrating life, dancing, individuality, differences, fierceness, and sometimes SWERLK is even a shoulder to cry on. The SWERLK is not only a dance floor anthem, but it is a way of life, a mindset, and a show of solidarity.
“The SWERLK doesn’t stop SWERLKING even in the midst of senseless violence. To SWERLK is to live to the fullest. So keep on SWERLKING and stay SWERLKY! SWERLK!”
The track was unveiled as part of a collaboration with LGBT media NGO GLAAD.
Rich Ferraro of GLAAD said: “Music has the power to uplift and unite people and the Scissor Sisters and MNDR have always done that for the LGBTQ community. SWERLK is a perfect rallying cry to live your life authentically and proudly.”

The Contigo Fund welcomed the track.
