This anti-LGBT Australian politician is being trolled with the Facebook Pride button
An anti-LGBT Senator in Australia is being trolled online with Facebook Pride month reactions.
Cory Bernardi is a staunch opponent of LGBT equality and has made numerous offensive remarks against the community.
But now, people on Facebook are trolling the homophobic senator and it is beautiful.
Nearly 5,000 people have used the Pride reaction on his profile picture.
The reaction button is available through like the official Facebook LGBT page.
In the comments section, hundreds of people are posting LGBT ‘stickers’ which feature gay couples and families.
Some people are also leaving comments.
“Marriage equality is a more productive, salient and beautiful thing for humans than ANY policy or idea this man has had,” one person wrote.
In 2012, Bernardi said that allowing same-sex marriage could lead to “sanctioning” polygamy and even bestiality.
The following year, the politician resigned from the front bench and refused to apologise for the comments which he stuck by.
Bernardi claimed that a sex education anti-bullying programme teaches children how to buy sex toys and visit bondage clubs.
Last year, gay rights activist hacked the homophobic politician’s website.
The group of campaigners took over Bernardi’s website and plastered a Pride flag.
A message reminiscent of Bernardi’s election slogan “common sense lives here” was also stamped of the site: “Compassion Lives Here. Coming Soon.”
The right-wing senator has since slammed Malcolm Turnbull after he “implied that Coalition MPs are homophobic”.
