Eight-year-old drag queen says if your parents won’t let you do drag, ‘you need new parents’
An eight-year-old drag queen has the best, most uplifting message for anyone who aspires to join his art form.
Canadian Nemis Quinn Mélançon Golden hit the headlines earlier this month when he stole the show during a Bianca Del Rio comedy set.
In his breakthrough moment, RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Bianca Del Rio pulled him onstage was performing in Montreal, Canada, as part of the Werq the World Tour.
The eight-year-old Montreal native won the audience over with his sassy answers, explaining that it wasn’t his first drag show.
Bianca told him: “I absolutely adore you.
“I love the fact that you’re here, and what I love most about this is that your mum is here supporting you.”
And under his stage name, Lactatia, he carried on taking the world by storm in an interview with YouTube channel LGBT in the city.
Speaking with poise and certainty, he told the audience: “I think that anyone can do what they want in life.
“It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks,” he continued.
“If you wanna be a drag queen and your parents don’t let you, you need new parents.
“If you wanna be a drag queen and your friends don’t you, you need new friends.”
He said he was “super pumped” about walking the runway and vogueing, explaining that it was a lifelong passion.
“I’ve been getting into drag since I was like, seven, but literally, I’ve been wearing like, dresses and being into girls’ stuff since I was like, three.”
Lactatia revealed that his “really funny” stage name was invented by his sister, adding that he would love to take his act on Ellen DeGeneres’ chat show.
“I would do a lip-sync number. I love lip-syncing.”
And, like all smart kids, he was fully aware that the crowd at the Werq the World Tour found him “super cute”.
