Geri Halliwell reveals the life advice George Michael gave her during Spice Girls
Geri Horner has revealed more details of her close relationship with George Michael.
The star had been close friends with the performer since she rose to fame in the Spice Girls.
She was famed for her hairstyle back in the day, being Nicknamed ‘Ginger Spice’ by the media.
However her new-found Wham! pal was not a fan of her locks.
The 44-year-old says Michael was a “mentor” and “father figure” to her.
That seemingly included style advice, too, she has revealed.
She told the Sunday Mirror’s Notebook magazine: “George pulled the platform boots off my feet and said, ‘I think it’s time we brushed your hair’.”
She added: “He took me shopping and tried to make me more ladylike.
“He was stylish, so I trusted everything he picked for me.”
In 1998 Geri dramatically quit the Spice Girls in favour of a solo career.
When she had her firstborn, Bluebell, she lived with the Wham! star for nine months.
She said: “I was so vulnerable having had my first baby, I had nowhere to live and he invited me into his home.
“I lived there with a newborn for nine months.”
Her second-born child was born weeks after the death, who she named Monty George in honour of her friend.
She explained: “When I demoed the record, I had the baby four days later.
“When I wrote it, I was in so much pain and vulnerable didn’t know how to deal.
“And then I had a baby boy – circle of life. Monty is named after George and it was my mother’s idea.
“George was was close to my mum. He was adorable in that way.”
