This man wore a dress to work after he was sent home for wearing shorts
Office-appropriate clothing is pretty restricted, especially when summer time hits and the suits and shirts that fill your wardrobe make you cringe at the thought of 30-degree weather.
One man, Joey Barge, decided that to cope with the heat he would wear shorts to his job in Buckinghamshire, UK.
The 20-year-old works in a call centre and figured that the smart shorts would be acceptable office wear given the blistering heat wave.
However, Barge suspected that his managers might not have the same thought process given the strict shirt and trouser policy, and so he took to Twitter to share the aftermath of his daring decision to wear shorts.
He wrote: “If women can wear skirts/dresses at work can I wear smart shorts like so?”
Moments after turning up to work, Barge was sent home to change.
However, instead of donning trousers he decided to wear a dress.
He figured that if women were allowed to be cool, why wasn’t he?
He explained: “I got sent home and told to change into appropriate clothing but it said females could wear dresses so hey ho!”
Barge returned to his office in a flattering black and hot pink number, fully expecting to be sent home once more, which he was.
However, his act of defiance sparked change in the office as managers sent out an email allowing men in the office to wear shorts.
“They said it was a bit too colourful and asked if I wanted to go home and change because they were letting us wear shorts because of my ‘protest’ – but I said I was happy to stay,” Barge added.
